The Thaumostatic Girdle is a research option found under the Artifice tab that can be purchased for 3 levels of experience after researching the Thaumostatic Harness. It is designed to go with the Thaumostatic Harness, increasing the player's speed with the Harness from approximately 2.25 blocks per second all the way to approximately 10 blocks per second. Although it is stated in the Thaumonomicon that wearing the Thaumostatic Girdle also increases the amount of Vis the Thaumostatic Harness uses, testing has shown no significant increase in the Vis used per second, both while stationary and moving. This may be a bug, however, as testing shows the amount to be in all ways the same with and without the Girdle. In addition to this, however, wearing the Girdle inherently reduces the amount of fall damage one takes, increasing the maximum distance one can fall, with 10 hearts of health and no other factors, to 33 blocks before dying - 9.5 more than normal. It also increases the minimum height one can fall before taking fall damage to 8 blocks - 5 more than usual. Although there is no currently known formula for the fall damage taken while wearing the Girdle, one can find a chart of the damage below. The Thaumostatic Girdle is created via Infusion and requires a Mundane Belt to be Infused with 2 gold, 2 feather, and an Air and Earth Shard, along with 32 Aer and Potentia and 16 Motus and Volatus Essentia. It is classified as having Very High Instability.
